Commissions and fees

Gross P&L is your result before fees. Net P&L is after commissions and fees. Tradrr can only show Net when it knows the fees for every account and market in view. The fee setup is where you fill in the gaps.

Gross and Net

In Trade Overview, use the P&L switch to choose Gross or Net. The setting is remembered.

  • Under the main result, the detail line says after the fee total in Net, or before the fee total in Gross.
  • If any trade in the view has unknown fees, Tradrr can't give a true Net. The window stays on Gross and the detail line says commission settings incomplete. Click Net in this state and the fee setup opens.

Where fees come from

Tradrr gets the fee for each fill from one of these sources:

  • Reported fees. Fees stated on the order itself, like a Commission column in an imported file. An explicit 0 counts as a reported fee and is never replaced.
  • Rithmic rates. The commission rate Rithmic gives for your account, when it has one.
  • Your manual rate. A round-turn rate you enter. It only applies to fills that still have no fee.

Hover a fee in the closed trades table to see which source it came from: Reported order fees, Calculated from Rithmic rate, Calculated from your fee setting, Mixed reported and calculated fees or Commission is not configured. A dash means the fee is unknown.

Open the fee setup

  1. In Trade Overview, find Fees in the toolbar.
  2. Click Setup. The number on the button is how many account and market pairs still have missing fees.

The Commission setup panel opens with one row for each account and market. Load your order history first, by syncing Rithmic or importing a CSV. Until then the panel says Load order history to see account and market fee settings.

ColumnWhat it shows
AccountThe account number, with its name beneath when it has one.
MarketThe market, such as ES or NQ.
Round-turn feeThe fee for one entry and one exit, per contract. Read-only when the fee is known. When it isn't, you get a box to type the rate.
SourceReported fees, Rithmic rate, Manual fallback, Mixed, Some fees missing or Missing.

Enter a manual rate

  1. Find the row with the source Missing or Some fees missing.
  2. Type the total fee for one contract, entry and exit together, in the box marked Unknown.
  3. Check the line beneath the box. It shows the rate per side.

A round turn is one entry plus one exit, so enter both sides together. Tradrr splits your rate equally between the entry and the exit. Enter 4.00 and each side is charged $2.00 per contract.

Enter 0 for a commission-free paper account. If you don't know the fee, leave the box blank. You can't edit reported or automatic fees here.

Tip. Look up your round-turn commission, including exchange and clearing fees, on your broker or prop firm statement. Match it to the market you trade, like ES or MES.

Careful. A wrong rate gives a wrong Net P&L, and Tradrr AI uses the same numbers. Check the rate against a real statement before you rely on it.

Where else fees show up

  • The calendar, the totals and the Analytics tab follow your Gross or Net choice.
  • Review + Tradrr AI shows Fees included on its result card when every fee is known, and Commission settings incomplete when one isn't.
  • Tradrr AI describes results as net of recorded or estimated commissions.
