Import trades from CSV

If your trades didn't come through a live Rithmic connection, you can import them from a CSV order-history file. Tradrr reads the filled orders, pairs entries with exits and adds the result to your Trade Overview.

Before you start

  • Export your order history from your platform as a CSV file. The file has to contain a Completed Orders section. Rithmic order-history exports are laid out that way.
  • The file needs both the entry and the exit orders of each trade. Only filled orders count.

Import a file

  1. In the top bar, click + and choose Trade Overview.
  2. Click Data in the toolbar.
  3. Click Import CSV. Its description says Add fills exported from your platform.
  4. Choose your .csv file.

While it reads the file, the button shows Importing.... When it's done, a message says how many fills were imported and how many closed trades the journal now holds. If the file states its time zone, the message ends with it, like EAST timestamps.

What Tradrr reads from the file

InformationColumns it looks for
Which rows countRows whose Status is Filled.
SideBuy/Sell or Side, as B, S, Buy or Sell.
InstrumentSymbol. Product sets the market when it's there.
TimeUpdate Time (WEST), Update Time (EAST), Update Time (UTC), Update Time, Filled Time, Fill Time or Time.
PriceAvg Fill Price, Fill Price or Price.
QuantityQty Filled, Qty To Fill or Qty.
FeesCommission or Commissions, or Commission Fill Rate multiplied by the quantity. SEC Fee or Regulatory Fee is added.
AccountAccount, and Account Name for the label.

When a time column names its zone, like (EAST) or (UTC), Tradrr uses that zone for the timestamps. Without a zone, it reads the times as your device's time.

What you see afterwards

  • The imported account appears in the Account filter with the status Imported.
  • If you also sync from Rithmic, the source becomes a mix of both, and the imported fills stay in your journal.
  • Importing another file adds its fills to the journal. It doesn't replace the earlier ones.
  • If the file has no fee columns, the fees are unknown and Net isn't available until you enter a rate. See Commissions and fees.

Troubleshooting

MessageWhat to do
This does not look like a Tradrr or Rithmic order-history CSV. The Completed Orders section is missing.Export the order history again and make sure the file includes the Completed Orders section.
The Completed Orders table has no readable header row.Open the file in a text editor. The table should start with a header row that begins with Account.
No filled executions were found in Completed Orders. The file has no rows with the status Filled, or the rows are missing a side, symbol, time or price. Export a range that includes fills.
Filled executions were found, but none closed a position. Include both entry and exit orders.Export a longer range so each trade has both its entry and its exit.
The selected file could not be read.Try again, or save the file as a new CSV and import that copy.

Tip. With a live Rithmic connection you don't need a file. Tradrr syncs your orders for you. See Connect Rithmic.
