Risk settings lock
The Risk settings lock stops you from loosening your own limits in the middle of a session. It starts with your first fill and lasts until the daily reset. Set your limits before you trade, because after that they're fixed.
When it starts and ends
- Starts on the first fill (a full fill or a partial one) on the account.
- Ends at the next daily reset, 5:00 PM Eastern by default.
The banner at the top of Risk Manager says RISK SETTINGS LOCK after the first trade of the session. While a lock is on, it also shows Unlocks: and the time. A lock icon appears next to the locked cells and on the account's status. Hover it to see when the lock ends.
What you can and can't change
| Setting | While locked |
|---|---|
| A limit that's already set (Daily loss, Max pos, Max order) | Can't be changed or removed. |
| A limit that's still empty | You can set it once. After that it's locked like the others. |
| Trading window on or off, start and end times | Locked. |
| Enabled | You can't turn Risk Manager off. You can still turn it on. |
| Manual lockout | You can still start one. |
If you try to change something that's locked, Tradrr says Cannot save Risk Manager or Cannot turn off Risk Manager and gives the reason.
Other things that lock your settings
- A manual lockout. Settings stay locked until the timer ends. See Lockout modes.
- A daily loss breach. You can't turn Risk Manager off until the daily reset. See Daily loss limits.
- Being outside your trading window. The window settings are locked until you're back inside it.
Set it up before you trade
- Open Risk Manager before your session.
- Fill in Daily loss, Max pos and Max order for each account you trade.
- Tick Enabled.
Tip. Your settings are saved to your account and follow you to other devices. The lock follows them, so opening Tradrr somewhere else doesn't get you around it.
