Trading lock

The trading lock is a switch in the top bar that shuts off order entry everywhere in Tradrr. Use it when you step away, when you're only watching the market, or when you don't trust your next click.

Lock and unlock trading

  1. Find the lock button in the top bar.
  2. Click it to lock. The tooltip says Lock trading everywhere and a message flashes Trading is locked.
  3. Click it again to unlock. The tooltip says Unlock trading everywhere and you see Trading is unlocked.

    Locks or unlocks trading everywhere.

While trading is locked, the button shows Locked next to the lock icon. The setting is saved with your account settings. When you open Tradrr, trading stays locked until your settings have loaded.

What it blocks

Any order action from a trading window: DOM, chart, Order Ticket and LiquidityMap. Cancels and Liquidate are blocked too. Try one from Orders or Positions and Tradrr asks Unlock trading? with the line Trading is locked. Would you like to unlock it everywhere? Click Unlock to go ahead or Cancel to stay locked.

Market data and charts keep running.

Unlock one window only

Trading windows have their own lock icon, so you can trade in one window while everything else stays locked. The tooltips say Lock this DOM and Unlock this DOM only. Charts and Order Ticket have the same.

  1. With trading locked everywhere, click the lock icon in the window you want to use.
  2. In the box, click Unlock. It says The rest of the platform will stay locked.

The top bar button then shows how many windows are unlocked, like Locked · 1 unlocked. Its tooltip gives the number of window exceptions.

  • Window exceptions are temporary. They aren't saved with your workspace.
  • Locking or unlocking everywhere clears every window exception.
  • Click the window's own lock icon again to lock just that window.

The trading lock and Risk Manager

They're separate. The trading lock is your own switch, and you can flip it any time. Risk Manager's locks come from rules you set, like a daily loss breach or a manual lockout, and you can't undo those early. See Lockout modes.

Tip. Lock trading before you walk away from the desk with positions on. A stray click on the ladder can't send an order while trading is locked.
