Record the live market

Recording saves a stretch of the live market, every price update and order book change, so you can replay it later. It also saves the previous three days of tick history, so tick and minute charts have data around the session.

Before you start

  • A Rithmic connection is connected and the market you want is open. Connect it first. See Connect Rithmic.
  • Market Replay is disconnected. While it's connected, Record… is off, and Replay and live data can't run together.
  • Your market data comes from Rithmic. Recording only works from a connected Rithmic data source.

Record a session

  1. Open Connections and click the gear icon on the Market Replay row.
  2. In Record live market, click Record….
  3. Under Live data source, choose the Rithmic connection to record from.
  4. Under Markets, search for a contract in Market 1. Add Market 2 (optional) and Market 3 (optional) if you want them. Click the × next to a market to clear it.
  5. Under Duration, choose 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 60 minutes.
  6. Click Start recording.

Pick a fixed contract such as ESZ6. A continuous symbol such as ES is refused with Choose a fixed contract such as ESZ6, not a continuous ES symbol. You can only choose each market once.

While it records

  • The recording begins once Tradrr has a live bid/ask and order book for every selected market. Until then the progress line reads Preparing 1/2 markets… and Stop & save is off.
  • Then it counts up, for example 03:25 / 15:00, with the markets and the number of events captured.
  • The Market Replay row in Connections shows the same progress with a recording indicator.
  • The recording stops and saves by itself when the time is up. Click Stop & save to finish early.
  • Click Cancel to throw the recording away.

Careful. Keep the Rithmic connection you record from connected. If it disconnects, the recording fails with The recorded market-data source disconnected.

When it finishes

  1. Tradrr downloads the previous three days of historical ticks from the same connection. You see Downloading historical ticks with a count, then Historical ticks ready. If some history is missing, it reads Historical data incomplete. If the download is still running when the recording ends, Tradrr finishes it before saving.
  2. Tradrr saves the recording to My recordings and selects it for Market Replay.
  3. A message confirms Recording saved and selected for Market Replay.

To play it, click Connect on the Market Replay row. If Rithmic is still connected, disconnect it first.
