Drawing tools

The drawing tools sit in a rail on the left of the chart. Use them to mark levels, trends and plans on the bars. Drawings belong to the chart you drew them on and are saved with it.

Show the drawings panel

The rail is on by default. To hide or show it, click the pencil button in the chart header, or right-click the chart and choose Drawings panel. You can also turn it on and off in Chart settings → General with the Drawings Panel switch, and set a Toggle Hotkey there.

Draw something

  1. Hover a button in the rail to read its name and, for tools that have one, its shortcut and a one-line instruction.
  2. Click the button. A button that has a small arrow beside it uses the last tool you picked from that group.
  3. To pick another tool in the group, click the arrow and choose from the list. The tool you choose becomes the group's default.
  4. Click on the chart to place the first point. Click again for the next point when the tool needs one.

Some tools work differently. Measure and Brush use click and drag. Long position and Short position ask you to click the entry and then the target. Anchored VWAP needs one click to set its anchor. Text adds text where you click.

After you place a drawing, the tool switches off. Click Stay in draw mode (the pen at the top of the rail) to keep the tool active and draw several in a row. The button reads Leave draw mode while it is on.

Long position and Short position

Click the entry price, then click the target. Tradrr places the stop on the other side of the entry at a distance that gives the default risk to reward, which starts at 1 : 2. The drawing shows the target and stop levels as colored zones. Stats appear while you draw, select or hover the drawing.

Open the drawing's settings to change Contracts, Point value, Default risk/reward, the entry, profit and stop levels, and Price labels, Compact stats mode and Always show stats.

Ranges and volume tools

  • Price range, Date range and Date and price range draw a box between two points and label the price difference in points, percent and ticks, plus the bars and time between them.
  • Fixed range volume profile and Anchored volume profile have Number of rows (4 to 100) and Value area (%) settings. The fixed range version also has Extend right.
  • Ghost feed draws sample candles that follow your chart colors. Its settings include Opacity (%) and Match recent candle size.

Edit, clone and delete a drawing

Right-click a drawing for Settings, Clone and Delete. The settings window has a Points section with Magnet Mode (Never, Always or Near point) and Magnet To (High, Low, Open, Close or Bar), so points can snap to bar prices.

Click Save as default in the settings window to use the current look and magnet choice for new drawings of that kind.

Hide or remove all drawings

  • Hide drawings (the eye icon) hides every drawing on the chart without deleting it. The button then reads Show drawings.
  • Remove drawings (the delete icon) removes the drawings from the chart.

Careful. Remove drawings acts on the whole chart and does not ask first.

Shortcuts

Seven tools have an Alt shortcut. See Drawing shortcuts.
