Price alerts

A price alert watches the last trade on an instrument and pings you when it crosses a level you picked. Use it for levels you don't want to stare at, like yesterday's high or a breakout line.

Before you start

  • Alerts run on your own live data, so you need a Rithmic market data connection. See Connect Rithmic.
  • Alerts only run while Tradrr is open and connected. They're saved on the device where you create them.
  • You can keep up to 100 alerts.

Create an alert

  1. In the top bar, click the bell (Notifications).
  2. Open the Alerts tab and click + Create alert.
  3. Click the instrument and search for a symbol.
  4. Under Condition, choose Crossing, Crossing up or Crossing down.
  5. Type your level in Value. It has to sit on the instrument's tick size.
  6. Optional: open Message and add a Note of up to 80 characters.
  7. Click Create alert.

The condition row reads Price · Last trade. Alerts watch the last trade, not the bid or the ask.

Create an alert from the chart

  1. Right-click the chart at the price you want, or use the crosshair quick actions menu.
  2. Choose Create alert @ followed by the price.
  3. The form opens with the instrument and price already filled in. Check them and click Create alert.

Active alerts show on the chart as an Alert label with the price. Click the label to edit the alert, or drag it to a new price.

Conditions

ConditionTriggers when
CrossingThe last trade moves up through the level or down through it. The alert card calls this Touches.
Crossing upThe last trade goes from below the level to the level or higher. The card says Crossing above.
Crossing downThe last trade goes from above the level to the level or lower. The card says Crossing below.

An alert needs a fresh trade to compare against. The first print after you create or resume it only sets the starting point, so it won't fire for a price the market was already past. Each alert fires once. Click Rearm to use it again.

Notification options

  • Open Notifications in the form and tick Play an alert sound. It uses the Alert sound and volume from Sounds.
  • Every alert gives you a PRICE ALERT popup in the app and an entry in the bell. Click the popup to open the alert.
  • For desktop notifications, click Enable at the bottom of the panel. See Notifications.
  • Open Data source to change the connection used for the instrument lookup.

Manage alerts

The Alerts tab filters by Active, Triggered and All. Each card shows the instrument, level, note and state.
